Fun with the fam

I am so glad to be back!  Stephen picked me up from the airport Friday night with Miss Brianna, but she conked out on the way there.  However, she did wake up just long enough to blow me a kiss when I was getting her out her car seat.  Talk about melt your heart on the spot....  that little girl is something else.  I can't get enough of her!  Saturday morning we ran to Shipley's in our PJs to get donuts... Brianna gets a special order of donut holes.  The first time we went to Shipley's with her, we went through the drive-through and I asked Stephen to order Bri some donut holes.  I thought she would love them since they were just her size.  Well, he asked for half a dozen, and they said they only sold them by the dozen.  He looked at me to ask what to order, and we heard a loud 'Aah!' from the backseat.  Brianna had a look of disbelief on her face.... like seriously, you're not going to order the dozen?  are you kidding me?  Obviously we went ahead and got a dozen donut holes.... of which she ate three by the time we were home... and we live like 2 minutes away.  Yesterday was no different... I think her total was 8 in the end!  Oh well, it was just a treat... we certainly don't do that all the time!

Today we went swimming and played at the splash pad.  We all had a blast!  It was the perfect way to beat the heat.  Then we came home and Stephen made steak fajitas.  Bri is a huge fan of his fajitas... last time she tried them she gave a loud MMMMMMMMMMM...... I don't think you can get a better compliment than that!  Tonight I made a special black bean dish.. black beans with a little garlic, salt & pepper, onion, cilantro, and just a touch of cheese.  She ate it up!  And she gave me a loud WOOOOOOOOOOW.  That's been her new word lately whenever she is impressed with something lol.  It's super duper cute.  After dinner she sat in her daddy's lap and listened to country music.  That little girl loves music... she's always dancing when she hears a tune... just like her mommmy!

Well time for me to get to bed... it's going to be a long week at work!

15- Month Check-up!

Brianna’s check-up went really well last week.  On July 20, 2011, she weighed 23 lbs and 10 oz. and was 30.75 inches tall!  Her iron count was up but she will continue to take iron drops until her next doctor visit.  The doctor was really impressed with her growth and development.  She grew 6 inches since her 1-year visit and is in the 60th percentile for height and weight… perfectly proportional!  Her doctor also said there was no need to worry about autism… Brianna is very social!  She gave me kisses the entire time we were there lol.  It was too sweet.  Unfortunately Bri had to get three vaccine shots and this was probably her worst reaction to date.  It was hard for me to get her to stop crying.  Absolutely broke my heart.  Even though the check-up went great, the doctor thought she might have slight allergies so she will start taking Zyrtec at night.  Also, two days later she got a mild ear infection and was keeping a fever – they thought it could have been some type of fever virus.  But all is well now and she is just as pleasant as usual.

Leaving on a jet plane...

I’m leaving on a jet plane… leaving Detroit to be exact. I flew in late Tuesday night to attend national tax training until today. Admittedly, I had a good time with the UHY team and they took us around town to have fun. Plus, I had the chance to see my good friend Nati and catch up with him. However, Detroit was everything I expected. There were mostly rude people slightly on the trashy side that just didn’t know or care that they appear that way to others. I can’t say that I will miss the place. And the food was pretty horrible… we ate Mexican food at the airport today and Cajun food at Fishbones last night…. seriously!? We’ve got the best of both worlds in and around Houston…. No need to come to Detroit for it lol!
Overall, though, I learned a lot at the training and made some great new relationships with everyone attending. And I learned a few things about the company that I needed to know… and I’m beginning to wonder if I’m too nice of a person…. Who would think that could be a bad thing. I’m not totally buying into these other management styles just yet… I think what I do works for me so I don’t have complaints yet.

A few highlights of the trip: Nati’s Obama Sucks jokes, Andy’s ‘chicken wangs’ and Lacy’s $700 payout on a 00 at the Roulette table.

So now I’m on this flight listening to a little Alanis Morisette and Red Hot Chili Peppers and fighting back the nausea from this turbulence…. Ugh! I am just so ready to get home… I desperately need to see my little girl and husband. I just don t feel complete when I am not with them.

I have a lot on my mind today… I think Stephen and I are going to have to make some tough decisions over the next few months… it’s not going to be easy but I hope we can get through it all and do what is best for our family.

I’ so ready to be home… only two more hours…

15 Months Old!

7/15/2011

Wow, Brianna, it is hard to believe you are 15 months old.  Time is just flying, baby girl!  Mommy and Daddy have been quite busy this month and you've been on lots adventures!  We spent your second Father's Day with your daddy and family in Maryland!  We had a great time!  You enjoyed riding the lawnmower and four-wheeler around the yard with your grandpa and daddy.  You were so brave and didn't get scared at all!

On the 4th of July, you played in your swimming pool and your daddy grilled.  And you ate a whole hot dog and half of another one!  It's interesting - sometimes you eat a lot at mealtime and sometimes very little!  I guess it just depends on your mood and the type of food lol.
You are speaking more and more everyday.  Just today you started saying 'thank you'.  It's almost like everyday you say a new word.  Last week, you said 'I love you' to us.... it was so precious!  Here are other words you have started saying:  yah-yah (yes), mmmm-mmmm (when something is tasty!), hey, hi, bye-bye, bir (bird), bottle, bobble (bubble)

You have 9 teeth now - one of your molars came in!  And you have a contagious smile!  Everyone tells me we need to put you in magazines and advertisements.  For instance, we got your summer photos from school... you are ADORABLE in them.  You wore a yellow tutu bathing suit and you smiled in all the photos.  They couldn't have been better!

You are starting to use your fork and spoon but you still love to eat with your fingers the best.  It's been four days since you've had a bottle... so far you are doing really well.  You like your sippy cups but not nearly as much as you like your bottle.

You absolutely LOVE to have someone read you a book... you like to grab a book and climb in someone's lap so they can read it to you.

And guess what?  You have a boyfriend at daycare and his name is Parker!  You and Parker have liked each other from the first day you met.  You were both about four months old.  At first you would hold hands and just play around the classroom.  Now, come to find out, you and Parker give each other kisses!  And yesterday you kissed him on the lips!  Your daddy is a little worried to say the least!  But it's super cute.... everyone at the school finds it quite funny.

You walk so well now and can run a little and spin in circles - which you love to do!  You have an awesome sense of humor... you laugh and giggle a lot!  Tonight you rode around the house on your daddy's back like he was a horsey... you loved it and cracked up the whole time!

You're such a sweet little angel and give me and your daddy so many kisses everyday!  We just eat it up!

We love you, Angel Baby, and enjoy watching you grow.  You amaze us each and every day.
