WILD Weekend

Today Stephen and I attempted to take Brianna to the Houston zoo.  I say attempted because it didn't quite happen.  Despite Houston having a record-breaking summer of heat and a ridiculously long drought, it began raining and lightening on our way there.... so we detoured to the Galleria to the Rainforest Cafe.  I have been to this restaurant once in London a long time ago so I semi-knew what to expect.  However, taking a 1-year old to the place is a different experience.  The host sat us directly in front of the tiger exhibit - bad idea.  Who would think a little girl would be amazed by roaring tigers... yeah... scared Bri out of her highchair several times.  Seriously, the people that work there should know better.  She was not the only child terrified by the animals.  But no, let's sit the smalled children closest to the scariest ones... anyways, we tried to enjoy the meal but it was over-priced and only decent... plus Brianna was upset and we just took turns holding her so we could eat.  I don't think we'll be going back there anytime soon.  But at least she did enjoy the elephant display and made her little elephant sound. :)

Tonight Brianna sang to us for the first time.  It was the sweetest sound I have ever heard - like an angel.  "Na-na-na-na"... it was only like 15 seconds long but it stopped me and Stephen in our tracks and we were speechless.  I don't think I will ever forget that moment or her little voice.  She just makes everything so much more special.  Then we tucked her in... she had a wild few moments but then she settled in for bed.

Overall it was a great weekend.  It was nice to spend time together since I've been working so much.  Saturday morning Stephen made us pancakes for breakfast and I made lasagna for dinner.  This morning I made breakfast tacos for everyone and Stephen made banana pudding for dessert tonight... yum.  I love cooking for my family.  I hope I get to do it more often soon.  We tried to find Brianna a Halloween costume yesterday but didn't find exactly what we were looking for.  I am sure we will find the perfect outfit and maybe, just maybe, we can have a Halloween party.  We'll see about that one.  Well, I am off to bed now... it's late and work will come at the same time tomorrow.  Nighty night....
